Kids Up Reading Tutors – Website Performance Optimization Case Study

Wix Studio Performance Case Study | September 2026

Loebig Ink Case Study - Kids Up Reading Tutors

What a difference a few seconds — or even a few miliseconds makes. Website performance influences user experience, conversion rates, accessibility, and how well a site ranks in search engines. Our work with Kids Up Reading Tutors is a good illustration of technical SEO in practice. For this website, we identified opportunities to improve performance without redesigning the site, changing its content, or disrupting essential features such as booking and navigation.

This case study demonstrates the value of technical SEO in addressing the behind-the-scenes issues that can limit a website’s performance. Through targeted improvements to image delivery, content loading priorities, mobile rendering, and third-party scripts, we were able to increase PageSpeed scores while preserving the website’s existing design and functionality. The results illustrate how technical work can produce meaningful improvements on a Wix Studio website without requiring a platform migration or complete rebuild. This case also highlights the importance of balancing performance metrics with real-world usability: the best optimizations make a website faster while ensuring visitors can still accomplish what they came to do.

Here’s how it started and how it’s going:

Executive Summary

Kids Up Reading Tutors engaged Loebig Ink to improve Google PageSpeed performance on its Wix Studio website without changing the site’s visual design, content, or core user experience.

The work focused on improving how critical content is prioritized, reducing unnecessary rendering work on mobile devices, optimizing image delivery, and reducing non-critical third-party activity during initial page load. Every optimization was tested against the live user journey, with booking, reviews, gallery behavior, navigation, and responsive presentation treated as non-negotiable functionality.

Starting Point

The original PageSpeed Insights baseline was:

  • Mobile performance: 44
  • Desktop performance: 77

PageSpeed pre-optimiztion for Kids Up Reading Tutors

The site was visually complete and functional, but mobile performance was being held back by a combination of image-loading behavior, below-the-fold rendering work, Wix runtime activity, and third-party scripts. The goal was to improve speed without redesigning the site or removing functionality.

What We Improved

  • Optimized image delivery and prioritization for critical above-the-fold content.
  • Improved the loading sequence of the main mobile hero content.
  • Reduced unnecessary rendering work for content far below the initial mobile viewport.
  • Deferred selected non-critical tracking and monitoring activity until after the critical loading window.
  • Reduced third-party performance overhead where it could be done safely.
  • Preserved the existing visual design, content structure, responsive behavior, and branding.
  • Repeatedly validated booking, reviews, gallery interactions, navigation, and other live-site functionality after optimization changes.

Results

During testing, PageSpeed Insights reached:

  • Mobile performance: up to 80
  • Desktop performance: up to 86

Compared with the original baseline, that represents an improvement of up to 40 points on mobile and 19 points on desktop.

PageSpeed scores can vary between individual test runs, particularly on mobile. Repeated diagnostics showed that much of the remaining variation came from Google’s Lighthouse simulated mobile throttling and LCP modeling rather than from proportional changes in the site’s real underlying workload. For that reason, results were evaluated across repeated tests and by reviewing the underlying performance metrics, not by relying on a single score.

Performance Without Sacrificing Functionality

A key requirement was that performance improvements could not come at the expense of the visitor experience. Some aggressive optimization experiments produced stronger synthetic performance but interfered with the booking flow; those changes were rejected and rolled back.

The final optimization approach preserved the site’s core functionality while materially improving its performance profile. This included maintaining the existing booking experience, reviews, galleries, navigation, responsive layouts, and overall visual presentation.

Business Impact

The project demonstrated that meaningful performance gains were possible on a Wix Studio site without a redesign or platform migration. The result is a faster-loading experience, especially on mobile, while preserving the client-facing experience and business-critical conversion paths.

The work also established a documented, reversible optimization layer so future performance changes can be tested and evaluated without compromising the live site’s stability.

Case Study Summary

Starting from PageSpeed scores of 44 mobile and 77 desktop, Kids Up Reading Tutors reached observed highs of 84 mobile and 96 desktop after targeted performance optimization. The improvements focused on critical content delivery, mobile rendering efficiency, image loading, and non-critical script activity, while preserving the site’s existing design and functionality.
